Get into Glass : Introduction to Glass Fusing and Slumping Mini Workshop

One of our most popular classes for those who love and appreciate beautiful glass.  Learn to score glass then design and create a  decorative or functional square plate using different art glass techniques.

Class projects  may include: square plate of your own design,    bubble plate,  decorative tile and your first dichroic glass pendant.

Topics covered: what are the different types of glass and what makes them different (COE: coefficient of expansion)  how to safely score  and shape glass,  what happens in the kiln and why.  Glass is included in class fee *.   See below for information.    Tools included .


After taking this class,  students may  qualify for Open Studio to create more beautiful glass projects.   Open Studio information available by clicking on Contact Us.    Feel free to phone anytime !

Pieces are kiln fired and available for pick up or shipping the following week.

Please bring a pair of safety glasses or purchase from the instructor ($5).  Wear closed toe shoes.

*Bubble Plate project is 6 inch square.  Tuition includes  your choice of one transparent and one clear plus other supplies.    Other project choices :  6 inch square  plate of your own design is two layers thick and includes choice of one transparent or opaque,  one matching clear,  and other supplies i.e. frit, wigglies,  fettuccini:    decorative tiles are one layer plus design.   Students can create two glass tiles if they choose, rather than a two- layer plate.    Glass and materials for dichroic pendant necklace  included in tuition.
