Get Into Glass: Introduction to Fusing and Slumping Garden Art with Yvonne Fordham

Love your birds,  gardens , glass?   Check out these new projects for beginner /intermediate glass artists.     We are so happy to have Yvonne Fordham teaching this new class.  Yvonne is a master gardener and a talented  glass artist.

First session is a discussion of glass science, COE,  cutting and shaping glass, and basic  fusing techniques.  First session project is a beautiful indoor or outdoor  pocket vase.  Two vase projects- time permitting!  Second session: what goes on in the kiln when the glass goes in  Glass fusingand circle cutting.   Second class project:  bird bath!    Students who don’t finish two vases first session can complete their projects during second session.

This workshop qualifies students to participate in Open Studio .

Students provide their own   protective eye wear (or purchase from the instructor $5)  and a sturdy box with a top for storage of project pieces.    Tools provided.  However,  if you have your own,  bring what you have and we’ll show you how to use them.  Tuition includes up to three kiln firings.   Glass and bird bath hardware purchased at class .     Materials included in class fee:  stringers and frit.

No open toe shoes or sandals please.

Level:  Beginner/Intermediate    Artists with some glass experience will add new techniques and designs to their tool box.

Prerequisite: None.  Those with some glass experience will find these new project techniques fun and versatile.

Cost:  $75  plus glass
